A Little About Me

My Sales Journey

I first got into sales when I found my District Leader at a job fair. I was looking for a third part time job just for the summer (I was still in University at the time). The “benefits” that the job was offering were attractive enough to make me blush, and so I decided it was at least worth a trial run. And what do ya know, I fell in love!

I was 21 years old at the time, and getting into an insurance sales job as a, technically self employed, individual. I don’t know what it is about being a young person in sales but I felt… underqualified (well, I was). I was nervous because I knew all of nothing about sales, about insurance, or about being self employed. CLEARLY it wasn’t my resume that got me in. None the less, I had an incredible amount of questions, and not really anywhere to go.

Upon starting out, I had this mental gap to bridge — the age gap. I was 21 years old and had passions for Hip-Hop music, jewelry and tattoos — not exactly the trending topics in the insurance game. I began reading books, consulting other sales people, and just learning from experience. I took off pretty quickly from there, earning multiple all-expenses-paid trips from my company, bonuses and more. But till this day I can definitely still say, I have a friggin lot to learn.

And THAT is why I am here, writing this today: To be for you, hopefully, what I needed when I first started out.

A Message For My Fellow Salesmen

If you are like me, you may not have gotten into sales solely because you “love sales”.

I made a shitty (to say the least) hourly employee. Not because I wasn’t good at my job, but because of a lack motivation and pride in my work.

I got into sales for the opportunity. The opportunity to be self employed, to have scalable income, to have residual income, and to be rewarded for my efforts with commissions. Not to mention, if you ever have dreams of owning a business (which I do), than you need to learn how to sell first. You have to learn to sell yourself (not on the corner), and how to sell your product, service or opportunity.

The sales game isn’t easy.

But with the right efforts, the right techniques and a whole lot of hair gel and smiling, it can be the greatest and most rewarding job you can do.

Welcome to the Game.

New to the Sales Game?

Come on a journey with me as I aim to tackle the biggest topics and hurdles that the game has to offer. I’m here to offer my experiences, and the lessons that I’ve learned on my journey as a young salesman. No matter who you are, or what you sell, I hope to provide you the guidance that you need to not only dominate the sale game, but to use your winnings to make even more!
